High-pressure instrumentation in desalination plants combines several demanding conditions: seawater exposure, elevated chloride levels and the need for accurate flow adjustment.
EFSVALVES has expanded its Super Duplex range with the EF70 needle valve, a compact solution for instrumentation and auxiliary process lines operating at pressures up to 6,000 psi / 414 bar.
Super Duplex for seawater and desalination service
In desalination, seawater and reverse-osmosis (RO) systems, material selection has to consider not only working pressure but also the corrosive conditions associated with chloride-containing environments.
The EF70 is available in Super Duplex ASTM A182 F53 / UNS S32750, a material widely used where greater resistance to localised corrosion is required than conventional austenitic stainless steels can typically provide. With a PREN above 40, Super Duplex is particularly relevant for demanding seawater and desalination applications.
PREN, Wp and Pitting Corrosion Factor in Valve Selection →
Final material selection should always consider the actual service conditions, including temperature, pressure, fluid composition and project requirements.
Up to 6,000 psi for instrumentation service
Needle valves provide progressive and accurate flow adjustment and are commonly used in instrumentation, sampling, hydraulic and auxiliary process lines. In desalination plants, these applications may combine high operating pressure with direct or indirect exposure to chloride-rich environments.
With a working pressure of up to 6,000 psi / 414 bar, the EF70 extends the EFSVALVES range for high-pressure instrumentation in corrosive service.
Connections for instrumentation and process piping
Depending on the required configuration, the EF70 can be supplied with:
- NPT threaded connections;
- Socket Weld (SW) ends; and
- Butt Weld (BW) ends.
EF70 Exotic Material Needle Valve →
Manual operation remains suitable where local and controlled flow adjustment is required. For applications forming part of a wider automated control strategy, actuated configurations can also be considered.
Material traceability for project requirements
For projects requiring enhanced material traceability or additional quality documentation, mill certificates and PMI reports can be provided on request. This can support EPC, instrumentation and project environments where material verification forms part of the applicable documentation requirements.
Expanding the EFSVALVES range for desalination
The EF70 complements the EFSVALVES portfolio of Super Duplex and exotic-material valves for desalination, seawater and corrosive process applications. Its combination of ASTM A182 F53 / UNS S32750, PREN >40, working pressure up to 6,000 psi and multiple connections provides an additional option where pressure, flow adjustment and corrosion resistance must be considered together.
